Parasitic High Q-Factor Open-Box Modes With 3-D Printed Dielectric-Filled Metal Waveguides

چکیده
High Q-factor open-box mode resonances have been found in the microwave measurements of several 3-D printed dielectric-filled metal-pipe rectangular waveguides (MPRWGs). These parasitic Fabry-Perot eigenmodes are confined by conductive walls transverse plane MPRWG and partially air-dielectric dielectric-air boundaries longitudinal direction. The excitation modes was previously speculated to be due inhomogeneous and/or anisotropic nature dielectric-fillers. This has now confirmed, representing woodpile-like dielectric structure (physical realm), with an constant tensor (simulation realm). Analytical numerical eigenmode solvers, used authors MPRWGs, applied here parallel-plate (PPWGs) circular (CWGs); identifying all individual modes. With former, its TM11 exhibits ultra-high approximately 2,300 at X-band, which is considerably higher than those other waveguide structures. Finally, a full-wave frequency-domain simulator that employs introduced this paper. new modeling technique independently confirms excited MPRWG, PPWG CWG paper provides foundations for accurately associated inhomogeneities anisotropy components; not just metal-walled structures considered here, but methodology could also extended generic substrate-based transmission lines.

Open Dielectric / Optical Waveguides
Regular boundary element method is employed for the variational formulation of Helmholtz equation that governs the waveguiding problems. Like in the Charge simulation method, in this method, the source points associated with the fundamental solutions are allocated outside the domain so that the singular integrals which occur in the standard boundary element procedure can be avoided. First, the ...
متن کاملCompact Bandpass Filters Utilizing Dielectric Filled Waveguides
Abstract—In this paper, a compact waveguide bandpass filter is proposed. The proposed structure consists of some inductive diaphragms in a rectangular waveguide and the regions between them have been filled fully by dielectrics. The relations between the physical and electrical parameters of the existed asymmetrical impedance invertors are obtained. The usefulness of the proposed structure and ...
متن کاملCompact slit-based couplers for metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguides.
We introduce compact wavelength-scale slit-based structures for coupling free space light into metal-dielectric-metal (MDM) subwave-length plasmonic waveguides. We first show that for a single slit structure the coupling efficiency is limited by a trade-off between the light power coupled into the slit, and the transmission of the slit-MDM waveguide junction. We next consider a two-section slit...
متن کاملGain-induced switching in metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguides
The authors show that the incorporation of gain media in only a selected device area can annul the effect of material loss, and enhance the performance of loss-limited plasmonic devices. In addition, they demonstrate that optical gain provides a mechanism for on/off switching in metal-dielectric-metal (MDM) plasmonic waveguides. The proposed gain-assisted plasmonic switch consists of a subwavel...
متن کاملTheoretical investigation of compact couplers between dielectric slab waveguides and two-dimensional metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguides.
We theoretically investigate the properties of compact couplers between high-index contrast dielectric slab waveguides and two-dimensional metal-dielectric-metal subwavelength plasmonic waveguides. We show that a coupler created by simply placing a dielectric waveguide terminated flat at the exit end of a plasmonic waveguide can be designed to have a transmission efficiency of ~70% at the optic...
